I retired as a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2007. Decided to go back to college where I studied automotive mechanics and automotive restoration. Always the old guy in class but was ok with it. I learned a lot and continue to learn daily. Currently working three part time jobs. One at a friend’s garage, the second at a auto body shop and the third at an old school automobile restoration business working as a mentor for young people who are not in school or not working. I also am a mentor at the Peace Makers basketball league on the south side of Chicago. We try to get current and former gang members to interact with each other on the basketball court as opposed to street interactions. In my spare time I work on restoring a 1967 VW Bettle and still enjoy medium distance slow runs. My wife Andy and I have been married for 28 years and we are still best friends. In 2015 Andy after much thought and prayer decided to get into the race for the United States Senate because she felt many people had no voice from their elected officials. She lost the election but received 25% of the vote so she did very well for a first time candidate. She was then appointed as Deputy Mayor for the city of Chicago. Currently she is the CEO of World Business Chicago. Our three children Alyssa, Kelsey and Will are all healthy and finding their own way through life. We are very proud of them. I am very blessed to have made it this far in life.

Wife (Andrea) President and CEO of the Chicago Urban League

Children Alyssa (21), Kelsey (19) and Will (17).  Currently involved with four not-for-profit organizations - Teaching art at a Chicago Public School, sitting on a child welfare board, sitting on a public school advisory board, and am the chairperson of our trustees committee for our 100 year old church.  I work part time at a small welding company, am painting all of the fire hydrants in our ward (800+ hydrants), continue to train DEA agents, state and local officers, along with some military folks in the area of firearms related training, and continue to try and restore a West Virginia coal mining car, three old trucks, two old cars and build a bobber motorcycle.  I am great at tearing things apart, it is the re-assembly part that I continue to have issues with.   I continue to workout and still enjoy a good slow paced run.
